Blog #13 for HONO1397
This last week we were able to review for our midterm and let me say something straight off the bat: there were a lot of things that I thought I knew but didn’t and there were also a lot of things I thought I didn’t know but actually did know! So after doing the review in class, I felt a bit confident but a bit worried as well for the day of the test only because it was a lot of material to cover and I wanted to make sure I knew everything on that review sheet. I know we probably wouldn’t get tested on every single meaning and phrase but it was better to be safe than sorry.
The night before Christian and I spent almost 3 hours studying for the exam and we didn’t stop until it was around 1:30am. Even after that I spent a few extra minutes in my dorm room looking over the material we had gone over. I mentioned sleeping early and waking up early to feel more able to perform higher in these kinds of exams but I didn’t take that advice and it almost bit me in my behind. I woke up and I realized I had overslept! I rushed to class immediately and I felt as if I ran a marathon because I was breathing heavy. I felt so woken up by that small rush of adrenaline that I needed a few minutes to breath and calm down before getting started on the exam. I was already late as it was but I felt it would be better to cool off so I could concentrate more, otherwise I’d risk choosing multiple wrong answers due to disinhibition. Overall, the studying was worth it, the rush of adrenaline not so much, but I have a good feeling about the results of the midterm exam.
I'm so glad you made it to the midterm! It's nice to have a study partner when you're trying to get ready for an exam. Helps both of you fill in the blanks of anything you may have missed in class discussion or reading.
